Genk Library (website only available in Dutch) is a gem of contemporary architecture. The French architect Claude Visconi chose a glass design and four storeys, each spanning 4,900 m², situated around an atrium where encounters are key. The library is one of the most important assets of the Stadsplein in the city centre and is definitely worth a visit.
Visitors can also do much more than simply borrow books at this library, there are:
- grand piano - free to play
- cosy corners for the little ones
- youth section with reading theatre
- quiet room for those who want to study
- exhibition gallery with temporary and permanent collections
- large reading table in the sun-drenched atrium
