A hidden gem in Genk

Explore Schemmersberg, a 40-hectare heath and dune area in Genk:

  • located on the western edge of the Kempens Plateau,
  • between Bokrijk - Het Wik - Klotbroek and the forest and heathland areas of Zonhoven and Houthalen-Helchteren,
  • and forms the border with the Zonhoverheide forests.

There are 3 marked walks, straight through nature. Plus a connection to the nearby Youth Hostel De Roerdomp in Bokrijk.

  • green walk: 2.7 km
  • blue walk: 3.7 km
  • red walk: 6.5 km

The routes start from the car park at the end of Wetzandstraat.
